Land Acknowledgement
At Cottonwood Creative, we are privileged to live and work on lands that have long served as gathering places for diverse Indigenous Nations.
In Calgary, we operate on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy), including the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations, as well as the Tsuut’ina Nation and the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations of Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley. This area is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
In Oklahoma City, we acknowledge that we are on the traditional lands of many Tribal Nations, including the Apache, Caddo, Wichita, Comanche, Kiowa, Osage, and Pawnee, and are within a state that is home to 39 federally recognized tribes forcibly relocated during colonization and the Trail of Tears. Oklahoma remains a center of Indigenous governance, culture, and resistance.
We honour the ongoing presence, leadership, and knowledge of Indigenous Peoples in both of these places and across Turtle Island.
As a cross-border agency committed to justice, we recognize that our work is enriched by—and accountable to—the sovereignty, dignity, and wisdom of the First Peoples of these lands.
We are committed to building relationships rooted in respect, reciprocity, and co-creation. This includes amplifying Indigenous voices, supporting Indigenous-led initiatives, and continuously learning how to show up in solidarity through our work in social impact.
